Definitions of Wellness
Wellness can be defined in many ways, however the most basic, text book definition is that wellness refers to "the state or condition of being in good physical and mental health". Another definition used is that wellness is a "state of acceptance or satisfaction with our present condition".
As you can see, the state of being "well" can be difficult to describe. Wellness is a concept that focuses on creating a well-rounded and balanced lifestyle. There are many factors that influence wellness, by becoming aware of these factors, you can make positive choices that contribute to your quality of life.
It is important to note that wellness is unique to each individual. Each of us ultimately defines our own wellness. It is based on our individual circumstances and it involves looking at the whole person and not just at your blood pressure, how you handle stress, and how much you weigh.
